Rooting Juniper and Cedar Cuttings

Postby mfantus » Jul 05, 2012 4:48 pm

Has anyone had luck rooting cedars or upright juniper cuttings? I dip the ends in KLN and use rootone but am not having much luck. I understand the strike rate is poor but am open to suggestions.

I try to root my conifers in straight perlite, it seems to work better than other soil mediums. I mist them ever day too. But still they are real hit or miss compared to other stuff.

Over the past month I have been trying for the first time to root some Sierra Juniper cuttings. I'll keep you informed on what happens. So far so good. I have had some limited success, albeit very limited, with Cedar cuttings, using rooting hormones.
