Doug and Tom have been writing the regional care series for a number of years. Now they would like to have a list of topics the general membership would like to see. There are a couple of criteria:

"1) it has aspects to interest both the beginner and advanced bonsaists, and
2) it has different required approaches regionally in terms of timing and species different geographical areas."

The articles they have already written have a wealth of information in them and are a basic corner stone for the journal. The topics covered thus far are:

Winter Storage 2004 Vol 38 No 3
Soils 2004 Vol 38 No 4
Defoliating 2005 Vol 39 No 1
Fertilizing your Bonsai 2005 Vol 39 No 2
Overwintering Tropicals 2005 Vol 39 No 3
Repotting 2005 Vol 39 No 4
Spring Chores 2006 Vol 40 No 1
North American Native Species 2006 Vol 40 No 2
Azaelas 2006 Vol 40 No 3
Special Techniques 2006 Vol 40 No 4
Watering 2007 Vol 41 No 1
Weeds 2007 Vol 41 No 2
Bonsai Pests 2008 Vol 42 No 1
Sunlight 2008 Vol 42 No 2
Maples 2008 Vol 42 No 3
Buttonwoods 2008 Vol 42 No 4
Pruning 2009 Vol 43 No 1
Junipers 2009 Vol 43 No 2
Black Pine Decandling Techniques 2009 Vol 43 No 3
Bonsai Soil 2009 Vol 43 No 4
Elms 2010 Vol 44 No 1
Collecting Part I 2010 Vol 44 No 2

Doug reports that it still requires a bit of editing and he's been busy with other projects. The video will be posted as soon as it becomes available.

Frank,
There are a couple of the regional care topics currently for members only. Go to http://absbonsai.org/bonsai-articles/regional-care.
There are also a number of species care guides at http://absbonsai.org/bonsai-articles/care-guides. More are in the works, so check back. If you have a particular species that you can put together a care guide, email to Randy Davis (plantmanky@yahoo.com) and he will help you to "fill in the blanks".

Thanks
George

Someone just asked me this weekend if my group could have a program on muck - how to use it, make it, etc. Not sure if would make a regional care item, but maybe regional recipes, what folks do to stop if from disintegrating in different conditions, etc?
