3rd Annual Kiln Opening @LangBonsai

Postby ronlang » Oct 06, 2011 7:11 pm

This past weekend Sharon and I hosted our 3rd Kiln Opening and Weekend Workshops at our home and studio. Even with the weather a little bit dreary we had an enthusiastic turnout. After a Friday evening reception and slide and PowerPoint talks by Jim Doyle and me, we opened the wood kiln at 9:00am on Saturday. I had high expectations for this kiln because it fired so beautifully and evenly the previous weekend. And it didn't disappoint.

With about 130 pots in this load it took a couple of hours to get to the bottom.

Thanks for sharing the photos of your kiln opening Ron.

Despite the weather, it appears that everyone in attendance enjoyed themselves and the pots you posted look great. Firing with wood imparts such great character to your work.

For those that have never had the opportunity to be at a kiln opening, it feels just like Christmas time when you were a kid.

Have a great day.

Regards,
Paul

Thank You Paul for your kind words. This was a good firing with nice surprises throughout as we unloaded. I do remember some kilns that were more like Halloween however!
Best,
Ron
