Yeah, it does take effort to start a club up, and more importantly to keep its momentum growing. My town is a great example - there have been numerous attempts to start a bonsai group over the last few decades, and but they've all eventually faded away. There is another new attempt right now, but they're having a hard time keeping interest up. The goal to longevity is finding a core group of interested folks, who are interested in both bonsai and running a group. Its often easy to find folks interested in bonsai, but you also need folks willing/able to do the work of keeping a group going. Its very hard for one person to keep momentum going on their own. Saying that, I wish you all the luck and if there's advice I can give, feel free to ask.
