As described in detail in the About ABS page, the American Bonsai Society, founded in 1967, is the pioneering national bonsai organization. We are a non-profit corporation, and all of our Officers and Directors are unpaid volunteers. We publish a fine Bonsai Journal, maintain this website, produce some unique educational publications, run an online forum for members, run a Correspondence Course and a variety of other services for our members and for the bonsai community. In order to continue to accomplish our mission and goals we ask for your assistance.

Here are some of the ways you can assist ABS:

Join Us. By joining ABS and becoming a participant in our activities you can learn, teach, meet fellow enthusiasts and further your enjoyment of this wonderful hobby. Click here to join online.

Write for our Journal. Our Journal Editor is always seeking articles and photos. Author Guidelines.

Help Us Recruit New Members. Help spread the word about ABS to your friends and to local bonsai clubs and suppliers.

Patronize Our Advertisers. Try to support the people who advertise in our Journal and tell them you appreciate their support for ABS.

Assist with Our Website. Help keep our Calendar of Events and Club Listings up to date. Use the contact forms to submit updated listings.

Help with Financial Assistance. Most of our income at ABS comes from dues. Other income sources include convention receipts and book sales. We try to keep our dues affordable and our expenses at a minimum. However our Journal is very expensive to publish and mail so sometimes there is a shortfall between our income and expenses. For the difference we rely on contributions from our members and the public. We also require funds to help finance special projects such as publications. Please consider a donation or becoming a Life member of ABS to help us stay financially strong, and insure our long-term stability and ability to serve our members and the bonsai community.
