 Candidates For The ABS Board of Directors 2008-2011

Dave Bogan (Lynneville, IN) - Dave was one of the founders of the Evansville Bonsai Society, where he has served in a variety of posts, including as president and newsletter editor. His personal bonsai collection has grown over the years since he started in 1970, especially after he built himself a greenhouse in 1999. Dave was asked to join the National Bonsai Foundation as a director in 2005. He is always expanding his friends and colleagues through bonsai.

Don Gulliams (Seattle, WA) - As president of the Puget Sound Bonsai Association - he is currently finishing his term there - Don has demonstrated strong leadership in the creation and implementation of several new and profitable programs that have become annual events for PSBA. Don is a retired captain of industry and a tireless bonsai enthusiast and promoter.

Feliciano Jusay (Wytheville, VA) - A relative newcomer to bonsai, 'Ciano' was the 2007 winner of the ABS New Talent Competition at Virginia Beach. His local club affiliations include the Hinoki Bonsai Club of Roanoke, VA, and the Mid-Appalachian Bonsai Kai of Tennessee.

Frank J. Mihalic (Chardon, OH) - A bonsai artist and teacher with extensive experience in both outdoor and indoor bonsai, Frank is the owner of Wildwood Gardens where he teaches and hosts bonsai masters from around the world. He has written several introductory bonsai books, including "Bonsai for Kids Made Easy." Frank has served one term on the board and is running for a second term.

Pedro J. Morales (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) - Pedro is an internationally renown artist and teacher who is a leader of Club de Bonsai de Puerto Rico, the Federation of Puerto Rican Bonsai and the Federation of Latin American Bonsai (FELAB). He is also one of the prime movers for the 2007 BCI Convention and the next World Bonsai Convention that will be in Puerto Rico in 2009. Pedro is running for a second term on the ABS board.

Pat Lucke Morris (West Grove, PA) - Pat was caught by the 'bonsai bug' more than 30 years ago. She has been active in the Brandywine Bonsai Society, the Delaware Valley Bonsai Study Group and the Pennsylvania Bonsai Society since 1985. She served on the ABS board in the early '90's, is currently the ABS secretary, and is running for a second term on the board.

Diane Robinson (Bremerton, WA) - Diane has energy and creativity and combines long-standing business acumen with many years of bonsai knowledge. She has long been involved with local economic development in Bremerton and Kitsap county and is the President of Elandan Gardens, Ltd., created by herself and her husband Dan.

Ron Smith (Santa Fe, TX) - A bonsai student since 1970, Ron has managed to cram a wide variety of experiences into those years, traveling throughout North America, Europe and Japan to study. Ron has served as an officer of the Houston Bonsai Society and as a delegate in the Lone Star Bonsai Federation as well as a director of ABS. He is running for a second term on the board.

John Weissinger (Ithaca, NY) - John is a wildlife artist, naturalist and educator on the staff of the Roger Tory Peterson Institute. He has written and illustrated several books and is a regular contributor to the International Bonsai magazine through his "Right Before Your Eyes" column.
